Riga, the largest city in the Baltics, is seeing the development of a new premium residential project – Lakeside. Located in the sought-after Mežaparks district, the Lakeside project has reached a major construction milestone with the completion of its structural framework and the start of the next phase of construction works. The first building, Allium, is scheduled to be commissioned by summer 2026, with the entire project set for completion by the end of the year.

The Lakeside development is located in Mežaparks – Riga’s greenest and one of its most prestigious residential areas, known for its recreational areas and close connection to nature, making it a unique example of this urban model in Latvia. The area is defined by an exceptional proportion of natural and landscaped territories: 45.7% consists of parks and green spaces, while 23.1% is covered by surface water. The vast majority of this water area is Ķīšezers, the largest lake in Riga.
Within the historical development area of Mežaparks, Lakeside is the last project granted permission for construction above two storeys. Its four-storey scale offers 360-degree panoramic views across Ķīšezers, the surrounding pine forest, Saules dārzs park, and the historic villa district, while maintaining architectural harmony with the area’s heritage character.
Mežaparks ranks among Riga’s top three premium residential districts and has demonstrated consistent long-term capital gains, even during broader market fluctuations. Lakeside is the only premium residential complex of its scale currently under development in the district, offering a rare opportunity in one of the city’s most sought-after locations. Prices start from EUR 3,900 per square metre (without interior finishing), positioning the project competitively within the Baltic premium residential market. Apartment reservations have already commenced.
The Lakeside project comprises nine residential buildings with a total of 67 apartments, ranging in size from 49 to 358 square metres. Two- to five-room layouts are available, with ceiling heights of up to 3.8 metres. All apartments feature spacious terraces. The development also includes 50 private storage units, bicycle parking facilities, and 120 car parking spaces with electric vehicle charging stations. The project’s total residential floor area exceeds 11,000 square metres, while the landscaped outdoor territory covers 10,000 square metres, nearly half of which (4,800 square metres) is dedicated to thoughtfully designed garden areas. Residents’ everyday comfort will be enhanced by a lounge area with concierge service, as well as a café with an outdoor terrace.
Among the project’s most distinctive features are four penthouse apartments with exceptionally large terraces, private rooftop gardens, and 360-degree panoramic views.

The project’s architectural design has been developed by Austris Mailītis (Mailitis Architects). The landscape architecture is created by landscape architect Ronald van der Hilst of Belgium-based RVDH – Design & Landscape Architecture. The principal interior partner is KRASSKY, while the design of the public spaces and show apartments is led by interior designer Dave Komare (Komare Studios).
The interior concept embodies the legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s idea of unity between architecture, interiors, and furniture – a holistic approach in which all elements form a cohesive whole. The design is flexible and human-centered, closely connected to nature, fostering a calm living environment and a mindful relationship with the surrounding landscape. The project’s aesthetic inspiration draws from 1970s Californian modernism, reinterpreted here in a contemporary Nordic architectural language.
Alongside the construction works, interior and finishing solutions are being implemented with a strong emphasis on durability, contemporary materials, and execution quality. The building façades will feature natural stone and profiled timber panels in accent areas. Public interiors will incorporate travertine, wood panelling, and tile finishes, while the apartments will include oak parquet flooring, natural stone in the bathrooms, and stainless steel switches.
Mežaparks is Riga’s original ‘garden city’ district – a low-density residential area designed around nature and green space. Since its inception in the early 20th century (then known as Ķeizarmežs), it has attracted Latvia’s cultural figures and business elite, becoming one of the capital’s most prestigious addresses. The district is distinguished by its historic Art Nouveau, Swiss chalet-style villas, neoclassical and functionalist architecture, as well as landscaped private gardens.
Lakeside is approximately 15 minutes from Riga’s city centre, 25 minutes from the Baltic Sea coast, and 30 minutes from Riga International Airport – offering immediate urban accessibility while maintaining a quiet, nature-oriented living environment.
The district also provides one of the most extensive active lifestyle infrastructures in Riga, and a wide range of water sports. Ķīšezers offers excellent sailing and windsurfing conditions thanks to its broad, shallow waters and favourable winds. An extensive network of forest trails surrounds the area, suitable for long walks and morning runs.
